Core soft + hardware loop is working
12026-08-07
This is past the "idea on a napkin" stage. Soft and hardware both have a working foundation now.
Software
We have a full interactive sim of the on-water experience: add devices, move and turn, see teammates on a track-up view, fire SOS and preset signals, watch the event log. It runs solo or live-synced across browsers on the same network — enough to demo and iterate the UX without waiting on every hardware revision.
Hardware
On the device side, the basic product loop is in firmware already: sense where you and your teammates are, show relative direction and distance on-device (no phone), raise and clear SOS, send short preset signals, and alert when something urgent arrives. Boards are on the bench for physical bring-up and outdoor checks.
What's next
Field validation of the loop end-to-end, then harden whatever the water actually breaks. We'll post results here — wins and failures both.
The waitlist is live
02026-07-09
We just put up the Squadwave landing page and opened the waitlist. No prototype yet — this is step one: figuring out whether enough paddlers and kayakers want a small, affordable device for knowing where their group is on the water.
What's next
- Finalizing the short-range MVP design (relative position, drift alert, SOS)
- First hardware prototype
- Reading every reply to the waitlist confirmation email — if you paddle in a group, we want to hear about it
We'll post here every time something real happens. No filler updates.
